The Monkey Says: Unagi Frenzy

Mom had set in mind to have Japanese for dinner as we walked along Gardens. Recorded is the loss Yo! Sushi had to face because they didn't have grilled unagi to satiate unagi cravings. Really, how can a Japanese restaurant function without grilled eel!! With the help of the F&B booklet, three floors up later, there we were completely amazed at the menu of Sushi Zanmai.

Stamina Roll; simply delectable. (RM12.80)
Omelette and cucumber rolled, and topped with grilled eel. Served with a squeeze of mayonnaise.

Classic California roll. (RM4.80)
Mediocre, although the avocados were lovely! They served my seaweed soft :( Angry angry angry but I suppose it's travelling through the oesophagus at this very moment :D

Salmon Teriyaki. (RM12.80)
Marinated well and salmon tastes great as usual :)

Soft shell crab.

Aside from the orders in the pictures, present was also a plate of Agedashi Tofu topped with grilled eel, a bowl of fragrant rice, and a scoop of green tea ice-cream (RM6.00). Bill totaled up to 80 bucks, a complete steal! I read once that Sushi Zanmai was a fine Japanese restaurant, but besides the overpriced sushi, everything else is affordable :)

The ambience is very much similar to that of Sakae Sushi, minus the monitors and mouses. A pretty ideal place for casual luncheons and dinners.

The Monkey Says: Put Your Right Hand In

There is a bitter outlook whenever one clicks on to my blog if the post below is kept on top, which is why this post is going to be a happy clappy one! Just in case there are no new posts after :D

& without a doubt, there is nothing happier, or remotely anything that pastes a bigger smile on my face than goooooooood food and great company. Regardless it being the main source of the depleted account. I should learn the art of picking at others' orders :D

Being the lost sheep we were, Jean and I settled at the most strategic (less walking) and easiest to locate cafe in Gardens the other day.

An open-concept cafe called Pastis, located just outside Isetan in the circular space. The menu is catered more for a tea-time break in my opinion, though, of course you still have your main pasta and grilled fish and what nots.

Criolla with marshmallows, absolute love! It's not often that I drink hot chocolate, but I was sold the moment I read they had marshmallows in it. Dark hot chocolate yum :D

Jean had her Cappuccino which came with usual biscuit cookie. I enjoy looking at the foam, just one of my simple pleasures in life. It is Not. Creepy.

Our French Onion soup which was good, though, a little too oily. We reckon perhaps it's the oil from the French onion, but then again, does it give out oil?? Jean took the time to remove the top layer of the oil whilst I sipped on my drink :D

Smoked Salmon Salad which was wiped clean, mostly by me because damn salads are so delicious, are they not! The salmon, croutons and lettuce, oh boy! Of course, a badly dressed salad is the uttermost turn-off grrrr which is why you should never order salads at fusion restaurants. Most of the time, they just dunk in loads of mayonnaise, olive oil and thousand island sauce. Geeeeeez.

In total, our bill came up to a total of 60 Ringgit, inclusive of government tax and service charge. A really nice quiet place, if you intend to catch up whilst grabbing a bite.

Pastis can be found on the ground floor of Gardens (Megamall), just outside the Isetan exit at the circular space, themed orange and white. Also, while locating it, look out for a shop called Bread & Butter nearby and join the club if you were, too, conned by it! :D

I slept at Jean's that night, all in preparation for Sam's birthday the day after.

Presents were wrapped by Jean, because I was too engrossed in the damn Chuzzle game. It really is all her fault, for letting me play grrr but I would've sucked at wrapping the gifts anyway, which is why sometimes I'd rather pay for it to be wrapped. Maybe next time I should just bring them to Jean! :D She would do it as a favour for a friend, and since she *is* supposed to be creative and all, considering the course she's taking :D

The card we made for Sam. By the look of it, you should know who made it. Look at the choice of coloured paper, the ugly fonts, and the monotone colour. An utter disaster in the Art world, a disgrace to be called a card despite it's really sweet content (ahem ahem Sam please agree).

Jean! Better brush up on your skills!!!! :D

Hehehe, nah, I kid, I kid. Guilty upon both charges. Production of the ugly card and accusing really artistic friend. Sigh, why can't I be born with more art skills huh huh! I think it's genetic though, cos when I was younger, unlike other kids who had their moms to pleat their hair to school and appear in school with different hair-dos everyday, my mom didn't know how to tie her daughters' hair at all. & my dad's scrap book damn ugly wei. You see, it's genetics!

The closest I've been to water colour since forever.

Fun wei! The cupcakes I iced, despite being painstakingly ugly for Jean to look at, she still included them into the box to bring over for dinner, and everybody should thank me for squeezing more icing onto them cupcakes! Yay for me :D

Friday night beckons :) & I got into GP class in college! Yay! And a cab driver agreed to finding a boyfriend for me! Yay! Everything is good again! Now I just need to stop fussing about what to wear every morning, I swear it's added stress.

The Monkey Says: Now This, I Would Really Recommend

I just came home from a really satisfying dinner; one of the best steakhouses I've ever been to, I'd say. Just a simple pre-Christmas dinner with my family. Though there was nothing simple about the courses! Oh boy every dish from the appetizer to the main course to the dessert was simply fabulous! Really really good food. Wasn't very much in a picture mood, so some of them are pretty ugly and blurry, but anyhoo.

Appetizer: Shrimp with spinach, and fried lotus fruit dipped in mashed potato

Really really good. The fried lotus fruit with mashed potato was so creative! The shrimp was so juicy, add on with the sauce, OH MY GOD, heavenly!

Bread

Boy it was so soft and fresh and hot oh my god!!!!!

Unidentified Soup

Mom says it's pumpkin but I don't know, I don't actually remember! I was just drinking it and drinking it and drinking it. It had such a thick creamy texture, sooo good!

Salad

Nothing exceptional about it, but it was good nonetheless. Tomatoes were really juicy.

Rib-Eye Steak

Sirloin Steak

I had the Rib-Eye Steak which was so tender and juicy! They had sidelines too, but really tiny ones, I suppose, to not overpower the taste of the steak. On top of steaks are butter and lime, to spread over your them. It was damn good alright.

Dessert: Sponge cake with fruit cubes

The cake was good, the fruits were sweet, everything about this was 100% good. The cake was better than any of those cake houses out there! My god, it was like instant love!

The service is really top notch too, not too pricey in my opinion. I'd say about RM150 for one would satiate, with change to spare. They don't only serve steaks, but if I remember correctly, there was poultry and fish too. Then again, you could always check with their menu outside the restaurant.

The Monkey Says: Rejoice With Food

Dinner was, without a doubt, necessary on the 26th of November. As compensation to all those late nights, drowning in caffeine, non-existent social life etc. Lucky lucky TGIF @ Pavilion to be the venue :p

What better way to be compensated than to receive a free mud cake! Lalala what can I say? We're a pretty lucky bunch :D

A zebra crossing, couple of escalators later, Tiffin Bay it was. Lucky us (again) cos the band was playing (yay!)!

& because I carry poker cards in my handbag at all times, hello Bullshit!

The Monkey Says: Cw Says: Cw Forbade Me From Putting The Monkey Says

On the eve of my 17th birthday, Gin FuGZ Emily Sam Cw took me out for an early celebration but refused to tell me where in which I found out later, was partially because they didn't know where it was either.

The many abrupt turns and U-turns, even when we stopped in a road so narrow to call and ask for directions, was worth it I guess.

We were at this place called Look Out Point, somewhere near the Bird Park, Nirvana and Ampang Waterfront. The restaurants there had breathtaking views, what more the pagoda-like building which was on higher ground.

Sam was incredibly afraid of being at the top, so both she and Chee Weng went down and took ugly pictures of us, chin up. There wasn't anything exciting up there, except for the occasional "I see your house!" then one would squint her eyes and the other pointing in a direction that could easily cover an entire neighbourhood. So I went down and met the two.

After we took all the pictures, Chee Weng found slime all over his hands, because he was treating the tiang like a stripper pole. Swaying from left to right left to right -_-

Suspiciously, they brought me back to the restaurant after the pagoda-like building. I mean, we just had dinner one hour ago, why are we back at the restaurant -_- But I complied seeing they were so nice to bring me out.

Then the lights were dimmed, and some techno blasting song came on which actually sang Happy Birthday, and there came my cake.

It came with the thing that's above my head around it because of the wind up there. To ensure the flame doesn't go out. I think it makes a pretty cool hat.

Cupcakes from Samantha and Chee Weng. Lazy people only made two of my initials because they were happily playing with the icing till they forgot my name. Look at the second picture! Look like worms squiggling out of the cupcake!!!

Anyhow, thanks for the wonderful celebration and the half-successful surprise :) It was a nice night, with good budgeted food but a great view of KL.

Ok now that it has been a month since, I can say it now...

Thank goodness no ghosts follow me home wei!! Summore so near Nirvana super scary ok!
