Despite slaving the night (and morning) away drowned in assignments, I can honestly say I don't think it can get any better than this. With nurnerous wishes and calls, and one very special serenade, I can finally say I'm in my happy place. What expectations? It's so much better than anything I could ever expect. Watch me as I skip my day away, without any sleep, and a dreading flu and cough to boost. Hell yeah.

The Monkey Says: Here, Have An Apple
There was once a girl who wore a mask. She ate with it, slept with it, laughed with it; she never took it off. In the beginning, no one questioned the person behind the mask, rather, found the mask pretty adoring and lovely. However, as time progressed, deceptions and ridiculous accusations were made by the person who holds the satisfaction in wearing the mask, and by being deceptive. What he said, what she said, she played her cards right most of the time, with the occasional slip here and there. But of course, nobody noticed. At first.
She lived her life in that few months, successfully gaining the trust of her friends whilst cleverly fabricating anything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. Some stories include imaginary cars and guitars, some on impossible sexual activities, and there were even imaginary hospital surgeries! She taught she had everything planned out well. With friends to believe her, to help her tell her stories, she was bound to be the most popular girl in the world.
Wake up little girl. You're nothing but blobs of bullshit mashed together.

The Monkey Says: Shibidibidoo
4th of October, Shib's 17th Surprise
Jean, Amelia and I spent the entire day baking and icing the cupcakes to bring for her birthday. Sam & Chee Weng bought and brought dips and finger food. Chris baked her a cake. The rest just came, ate and made noise. Heheh :)

Baking 101 from Auntie Chris. I think I destroyed more cupcakes in the process of icing them. Stupid white coating rawr!!
All of us met at Shib's place and briefed the parents, set up the pastries and dips.

After, a couple of us went out to take a breather and before we knew it, everyone was out and there was some mini car race going on. Tyres screeched, lights were flashed and incredibly loud acceleration was done. Heads were stuck out and great music (only from my car) was played. It was the driving license freshies dream come true lah.
Chicken dance caught on camera haha:)
Shibs, you truly are an amazing character. There is such simplicity in the way you lead your life; you know your priorities yet you do not ignore the other agendas, you are the most hardcore female gamer I've met yet you manage to be this completely loveable person. I love you and I hope you had a great 17th birthday.

The Monkey Says: For Once In My Life
Up on the highlands, I was finally surprised on my birthday last September.
An hour before the clock stroke 12 that night, we took the cable car down, from Genting back to Awana to meet up with the rest of our classmates who were already in the hotel.
Fourty minutes till 12, we boarded the last shuttle bus that was incredibly full, and sang along to songs that were played on the radio.
Fifteen minutes. Arrived at Awana, but was brought to walk around. The two of us sat by the pool, smoked our cigarettes, talked shit and listened to people sing along to the karaoke.
Four minutes and we walked to the elevator that led to our room. He knocked on the door, and a classmate came to open it with complete darkness behind him. The singing began, the candles on the cake, and camera flashes lit the room.

That was not my surprise.

They were.

As my classmates serenaded me to the birthday song, I could not miss the blinding flash from an SLR.
After the song was done, and I blew all 18 candles on my cake (in one breath), a classmate came up to me with a container that held six cupcakes and said,

The Monkey Says: Butterfly
I am your 18 year old daughter. Gone are the days I am incapable of making my own decisions, incapable of setting my mind straight for important agendas. If I seek for help, it's for assistance and not a direct solution. What I need you to understand is that you're not losing me. There comes a time where you have to let me go, and be it baby steps or big ones, the gun shot must go off. I see the disappointment in your eyes and honestly it puzzles me so. I may not be your generic daughter, one who pampers you and shower you with hugs and kisses but I sincerely do care. You firmly stand on the point that there is no comparison made, but we both know there is a lingering thought in your head that wishes I was an exact replica of your other daughter. I am not angry that you do, because I suppose it comes naturally. Perhaps I wander around, but at the end of the day, I return. Perhaps I'm not a model student, but at the end of the day, my results speak for themselves. I can't have you breathing down my neck when I'm in need of my personal space. We all have our moments and it's about time you knew I'm human too. Then maybe, you'll stop blaming me for everything that's going wrong.

The Monkey Says: 18!
I was up in Genting for my birthday, and there was the usual SURPRISE at midnight, and a little something more that made me fall on the floors of the corridor and cry.
To:
Syaz, Michelle, Imran, Christine, JQ, Amirul, Aaron, Crystalbelle, Hamse & Teoh,
Thanks for the presents and cake, the making of the banner and everything else that you guys did to make my birthday possible. Thanks for being there to celebrate my birthday with me :)
Chee Weng, Sam, Jean and Amelia,
All of you deserve an award each for being the best friends on earth. From coming up to Genting, to contacting Syaz to plan everything, you guys really did successfully surprise me at last. I loved the pre-birthday dinner and Genting surprise altogether. The four of you moved me to tears and up to now, it still feels like a dream to me. I love you guys :)
Shibs & Chris,
You guys suck for not coming up. Hahah, but I know you would have if you could've. I still love both of you :)
Syaz & Michelle,
Thanks for putting up with my friends with their crazy ideas and what nots. Thanks for taking time off to play along with them. Both of you deserve hugs and kisses :)

The Monkey Says: Amor
Flooded laughter and tears, the beauty lies in sustaining. His flapping hand was humiliated by her friendly handshake. Anticipating the creation of an applause, help came in handy. Nothing was more girly than toilet breaks, constant whispers and a nod in answer. Typically, friends tend to express more excitement. On a 27th, pebbles laid as an audience while the performing arts centre became a celebrated venue. Peeping spies fidget, and a clapping hand wipes the question mark. There it is, the 22nd month in the making.

Drowned in patience, arguments were never present. Pictures may lie, but friends help set the record straight. Present was admiration, oogling, and even at one point, typing aid. How do you do? She was recovering, amused and swept off her feet. Sugar-coated words as these words form the truth. It was as if a baseball game was live, there were three strikes and needless to say, a home run was scored. Strikes were days, and the home run was a happy two. First steps are always tough, therefore friends carve the way. A lovely 30th, basements played a part, disappearing allies caused apparent frustrations- hidden excitement. 7 months, a new beginning being formed for both.

Enveloped with stares, whispers and the ugly index finger. Completely oblivious, feelings cocoon the unconventionality. 3 months in the making, there was a 1% reciprocal. One definitely tires from running, she never stops chasing. As the percentage increases, the group expands. Compatibility was never present in past relationships, arseholes were a plenty. Forget on bended knee, for agreement arrived at the door. Mass forward a simple text, and shocking replies are shot. Forget the difference, celebrate the similarity. A simple 17th, a simple relationship, a lovely 2nd month to live.

Despite constant fears and tears, there was never unhappiness to witness such joy. The glittering eyes, the tangled hands, the shy kisses, all were witnessed. There is history to look back on, and a beautiful one it is indeed. I can finally say that I was there to see it happen for everyone.
